Opening Title Sequences

The Notebook
(First two minutes.) The first thing we see is the New Line Cinema logo. Throughout the first two minutes we hear a romantic, soft serene music of piano. The first shot is an establishing shot, setting the location, sunset overshadowing and reflecting a lake. The next shot is a long shot of the sun over the water and a person on a boat which can be seen against the sunset of dark orange background. We are then shown a close up shot from behind of the silhouette of a man rowing. We are presented with another establishing shot of the boat rowing across the lake. The camera then cuts to a medium shot of the moving boat. The ripples of the water move straight in the direction of the camera. The image fades into a shot of the sunset with the background of a lake on the right and trees on the left, we still see a small boat floating on the lake. Next we see a long shot of the boat floating through patches of tall grass and birds flying across the screen. The image then fades into a closer shot of the floating boat as the birds fly overhead. Through out the first two minutes credits are presented as the film progresses using a small white font. The use of beautiful red romantic sunset soft summer colours fading in and out accompanied by soft serene music sets the perfect opening for a summer romance love story for the audience .
